Join us this summer for an entreprenurial experience that will change the way you look at the world! You'll learn design and entrepreneurship, and you'll learn how great new products come to life.

In the coming generation, entrepreneurs will increasingly differentiate themselves not necessarily by creating a new thing or product, but by connecting intimately with their customers or audience, making people feel like the product or service is designed precisely with them in mind. Designers are experts in this work, making design thinking an essential tool for the coming generation of entrepreneurs.

Design is an iterative, empathetic process of problem solving. Designers work to make the world a better place: to make it more fulfilling, more empowering, and sometimes, more fun. During this two week immersive, you’ll learn the process of design. You'll learn how to make things that have real value.

What you'll learn

During this two-week program, you'll gain mentorship from great teachers at Austin Center for Design, teachers who are professional designers that have created great products with Disney, Microsoft, Target, Ford, and dozens of other great brands. You'll learn:

  • How to work through a design process in order to solve an ambiguous problem
  • How to build empathy with people in order to see the world through their eyes
  • How to come up with good ideas
  • How to iterate quickly to improve a design
  • How to build something that represents and communicates your ideas
  • How to work in a group collaboratively in order to make something great

About The Entrepreneurs Foundation and Austin Center for Design

Entrepreneurs Foundation

The Entrepreneurs Foundation was founded in 1999 in response to the Central Texas’ community’s question, what are high-tech companies contributing to Austin. Through EF, entrepreneurs set aside equity which when monetized is granted to nonprofits. Additionally, we launch projects which engage the intellectual capital of our community of entrepreneurs and their employees to make Austin a better place to live, work and play. Our work in youth entrepreneurship began in 1999 with Lemonade Day Austin, and now includes Make Something Great, experiential field trips to Capital Factory, TEDxYouth@Austin, mentors, speakers and small scale demonstration projects.

Austin Center for Design

Austin Center for Design is a unique school intended to help students develop autonomy through design. Our course offers a comprehensive study in interaction design and social entrepreneurship, where students prepare themselves for a career in product management, design strategy, interaction design, and social entrepreneurship. Class sizes are small, and classes are taught by well respected practicing designers. Our alumni go on to lead teams, start companies, and design great products and services.
